Creating Rituals and Ceremonies

Give your life meaning in your accomplishments, rare events, or milestones.

We naturally commemorate birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, births, and deaths. We need this as a part of the process of where to put these moments in our memories. It helps to have some sort of ritual to adhere all the emotions and thoughts surrounding an event.

No matter how small, how unusual, or how intangible, create rituals and ceremonies in your life. You grant yourself and others the opportunity to be valid and real. You give a space to feel. You ground your experiences to the real world around you.

It may seem silly at first, but try to create something new for yourself. It might be a commemoration for kicking an old habit, turning over a new leaf, crying over something in the past, burning an old artifact. Give yourself the opportunity to process your life in a new way. Ask your closest friends or relatives to join you in a ceremony. Invite your circle to celebrate or recognize a moment for you.

Do what feels sacred, special, sentimental, or serious.
